About Onsite Workshops

The RIGHT RESPONSE Workshop is modularized to meet the varied training needs of different groups or individual attendees. With four levels of training, you receive just the amount you need for your role without wasting time and money learning skills that you don’t need.

The first half of the workshop contains the information needed by anyone who will encounter someone who may be upset or where conflict could escalate.

The second half is designed for attendees who have more prolonged interactions with others, may be working with individuals who have identified behavioral challenges, or working with those who could pose a significant danger.

Training Levels

Primer

The first 5 hours is primarily focused on Prevention and De-escalation techniques, particularly those focused on the impact of self in preventing and responding to conflict and crisis. This level is ideal for those who may have limited face to face contact with others or are in situations where the other person will not attempt to become physical. Complete and receive a Certification of Attendance.

Elements

Maximize Safety with basic Self-Protection Skills in addition to the Primer level (7 hours total). This level is a great alternative to Primer and often helps those attending feel more confident and competent engaging with someone who is escalated, knowing that they can keep themselves safe. Complete and receive a 2-year certification.

Elements+

For those with longer-term interactions and more influence over the environment, this level adds additional advanced Prevention and De-escalation skills, including Proactive Environments, Positive Behavior Support, and Postvention Teaching to the Elements level. This option is ideal for organizations with hands-off policies (11 hours total). Complete and receive a 2-year certification.

Advanced

This level is for those who work with individuals who present a significant and imminent danger to themselves or others. It provides all of the information from the other levels and adds Escorts and Holds. Because of the intrusive nature of escorts and holds, significant time is spent discussing Ethical Considerations and Standards of Implementation, to ensure that all avenues have been exhausted beforehand to maintain safety (14 hours total). Complete and receive a 1-year certification.
