Time flies! As the first anniversary of the introduction of RIGHT RESPONSE Workshop approaches, it is time to look ahead to the Instructor recertification process. Like many other procedures in RIGHT RESPONSE, this process has changed a bit. Below, you will find a review of your recertification options and instructions on how to register your preference.
Since the recertification process is new and different from SECURE, please be sure that you understand the expectations. Below is an excerpt from EXHIBIT C - Certification Guidelines
A. 4. In no event shall an Instructor's Certification be extended beyond the term of one (1) year for the Advanced Instructor Certificate and two (2) years for the Elements Instructor Certificate from the date of commencement of the Instruction Certification Courses without recertifying. Instructor Recertification can be obtained by either attending an Instructor Recertification Course conducted by Service Alternatives or by passing an Instructor Recertification written test. An Instructor must recertify: (a) any time during which an Instructor holds a current Advanced Instructor Certificate or an Elements Instructor Certificate; or (b) during but no later than the ninety (90) days grace period after expiration of the Advanced Instructor Certification or the Elements Instructor Certification ("Grace Period"). Failure to recertify at one of the previously mentioned times will result in retaking an Instructor Certification Course at the Licensee's expense without the option to recertify.
You have 2 choices for your recertification process:
Designed to not only evaluate your factual knowledge of the RIGHT RESPONSE™ curriculum, but to also give us a picture of how well you can facilitate this information into the student learning experience.
This 4 ½ hour course is designed to act as a refresher for currently certified Instructors. The course will take you through a review of all versions of RIGHT RESPONSE, allowing for questions to be addressed. Paperwork procedures will be reviewed. You will practice teach a section of RIGHT RESPONSE in order to obtain feedback on your teaching as well as to review the curriculum. Any revisions or changes that have been made will also be discussed. A review of Physical Safety skills will be completed, with each Instructor demonstrating those skills. You will be given advanced information on at least one subject. This may be in the form of a research-based article or book for further reading.
Please complete and return the recertification registration form to indicate your preference!
When you attended the RIGHT RESPONSE Conversion Workshop last year, you were given a new certification date which will be the anniversary date for your future recertifications. Realizing that this new certification date may be inconvenient for your annual scheduling needs, we are allowing you this one-time opportunity to choose a new anniversary date for your future recertification schedule. Do this by picking a date earlier than your expiration (not after.)
For example, you attended the RIGHT RESPONSE Conversion Workshop last year on July 25, but summer is an inconvenient time to recertify. You might choose May 25 as your new certification date. This would mean you will subsequently expire May 25 each year.
Please indicate your new expiration date on the enclosed recertification registration form, if you wish to change it.
Don't need to teach Advanced Skills? Want a 2-year certification term instead of 1? You can permanently downgrade your certification to the Elements level upon written request. Be advised that you will only be able to conduct Primer and Elements Workshops after downgrading.
